Game On for NY-21!
Politico's New York Playbook announced today that "the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee is adding Republican Rep. Nick LaLota’s Suffolk County district to its target list, along with the upstate district where Republican businessperson Anthony Constantino is looking to succeed outgoing Rep. Elise Stefanik.
New York is viewed as critical in this year’s battle for the House majority. Some New York Democrats have suggested for months that they have a chance of flipping the 1st and 21st congressional districts, citing Democratic overperformances in special elections across the country and the president’s low approval rating amid high gas prices and an unpopular war."
"But in announcing these seats, the DCCC asserted that voters are 'souring' on what it referred to as Republicans’ 'wildly unpopular record of raising costs, attacking affordable health care, and hurting working families.' DCCC Chair Suzan DelBene pointed to GOP support for the One Big Beautiful Bill Act, Trump’s tariffs and the war in Iran as reasons that Democrats think they can make inroads on Republican turf."
St. Lawrence County Democratic Committee Chair Mike Zagrobelny noted that NY-21 is a seat that Stefanik won by 24 points in the last election, so "getting on the DCCC target list is something we can all be proud of. But there's not time for that. This is a call to action, and we need to keep going!"
