In response to yesterday’s successful passage of the PACT Act by the US Senate, after an initial failure of passage earlier this week thanks to Republicans flip-flopping on their support of the bill, NY-21 Congressional Candidate Matt Castelli, who is currently running to unseat Congresswoman Elise Stefanik, released the following statement:
“The Senate’s passage of the PACT Act yesterday is a huge victory for veterans, and will provide critical healthcare for our nation’s veterans who served in Iraq and Afghanistan and are facing a devastating toll from exposure to toxic burn pits. Unfortunately, Congresswoman Elise Stefanik abandoned these same veterans by opposing the PACT Act, playing politics with the lives of those who put their life on the line to protect our country. While the PACT Act passed despite Stefanik’s opposition to it, NY-21 veterans and their families will never forget how she has cemented her undeniable record of voting against our veterans, and we will hold her accountable for putting her own self-interest above the health of our veterans this November.”
